Welcome, and thank you for visiting Alison Kennedy Therapy.

My name Alison Kennedy and I am a counsellor and wellbeing coach. My role is to provide you with the space and guidance you need to help you on your journey of self discovery.

I am empathetic, non-judgemental and genuine in my approach. I offer a chance to reflect on the difficulties or problems you are experiencing in a safe and confidential environment.

Together, we can explore your situation in a way that encourages you to gain insight and fresh perspectives, and perhaps a new understanding of yourself.

About my practice

After originally studying Art and Design, I earned a BA Hons and Post Graduate Diploma in Fine and Applied Arts. I also always had a passion for helping people, so I studied to become a psychotherapist, who still loves art too.

I am an integrative counsellor, having a DIPHE in counselling Studies from the University of Ulster and I am fully accredited with the BACP ( British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy ).


Sometimes we lose touch with our true, authentic self because we are overthinking or worrying about the past or future, causing stress, anxiety or depression.

Counselling supports you to become more aware of patterns of thoughts and feelings and to regain control and be empowered to be more self aware and happier.

I am committed to helping you to work towards and reach your therapeutic goals within the safety of a unique therapeutic relationship and you will tap into your own inner resources to achieve this.

It is my hope that you will regain the confidence and self awareness needed to live an empowered life.

The foundation of my work is humanistic, or Person Centred, based on the theory of Carl Young. This means that you as the client are the focus and the expert in your own life.

I incorporate other theoretical approaches such as, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Theory, Solution Focused theory, Neuro Linguistic Programming and Attachment Theory if relevant to the individual client on their therapeutic journey.

Wellbeing Coaching

I am a certified Well being Coach.

The focus of well being is on the whole being - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. It is a holistic approach that works towards self actualisation, which means living your best life in alignment to your values. Coaching helps you to explore what this means for you and to determine what is needed for you to be happy and well and what might be getting in the way. We look at your needs, what you want to change; new beliefs, habits or behaviour that will help you to feel better about yourself. As a well being coach, I will provide you with guidance, motivation, passion and accountability towards your vision. I ask questions and encourage you to move forward and find solutions and strategies that create positive change in your life.

Testimonials

Fees

Sessions will last for 50 minutes, usually taking place on a weekly basis at around the same suitable time.

Please contact me for information about my fees.


Initial assessments last around 75 minutes.

Sessions and Availability

I offer a limited number of concessions for those on a low income. Please contact me for availability.


Contracts usually run for 6 sessions and are reviewed every 6 sessions.

If you wish to cancel a session, please allow 48 hours notice, otherwise you will still need to pay for missed sessions.

I accept payment by bank transfer.
